The BAFTAs 2024: Margot Robbie and Emma Stone recreate THAT viral Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift red carpet moment

It became one of the standout moments of the Golden Globes, sparking a flood of memes and speculation.

So it was no surprise that the 2024 British Academy Flm Awards brought a brand new version of the viral exchange between Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift, I thought this chat was from Hollywood darlings Margot Robbie and Emma Stone.

The pair were pictured having a dramatic conversation as they posed for snaps together on the red carpet at London's Royal Festival Hall on Sunday.

Snaps from the event showed Emma visibly shocked by Margot's revelations as they made their way to the ceremony.

Emma wowed in a quirky orange dress with a puffed sleeve as she beamed alongside Yorgos Lanthimos.

Continuing her trend of Barbie-inspired looks, Margot opted for a pink and black strapless dress with matching gloves and heels.

At the Golden Globes last month, a video from their table showed Taylor and Selena, as well as Miles Teller's wife Keleigh Sperry, having a very animated discussion – with a sombre Selena waxing lyrical to a shocked Taylor and Keleigh, before the latter clearly clarified is heard: “with Timothee?” as Selena nods.

Fans quickly began analyzing the clip, claiming Selena detailed how she asked Wonka star Timothee for a photo – but his girlfriend Kylie Jenner reportedly said no.

A tweet from Popculturegal said Selena said, “I asked for a photo with him and she (Kylie Jenner) said no.”

One fan wrote: “Selena is so real.” Whenever something happens to me I run straight to my girls

Another wrote: “She made sure to scream loud enough for everyone to hear,” while a third typed: “I just love Taylor's face.”

Others wrote: “Selena with the gossip” and “It was so clear.” You can clearly hear Keleigh's name.'

Another wrote: “Why do I think this tea is about Timothée not saying hello to Selena even though they're friends because of Kylie?” There's another aspect where you can tell the other girl is “No “, Timothée??” says.

David Tennant will host this year's ceremony live from the Royal Festival Hall in London's Southbank Centre, with a number of guest presenters presenting the awards throughout the night.

Actress and singer Hannah Waddingham will treat guests to an exclusive live music performance, while Sophie Ellis-Bextor will perform her iconic hit 'Murder on the Dancefloor' after it was given new life in Emerald Fennell's BAFTA-nominated 'Saltburn' woke up.

Elsewhere, Guyanese-born, London-based film curator June Givanni will receive an Outstanding British Contribution to Cinema Award.

Actress Samantha Morton's long career will also be rewarded with a BAFTA Fellowship, the arts organization's highest honor, given in recognition of outstanding and exceptional contributions to film, games or television.

Tennant, who is hosting the star-studded ceremony for the first time, recently admitted he was confused by the prospect of competing in front of so many people.

He told Variety, “If I'm honest, I don't know what to expect.” The whole thing just feels like one of those experiences that you say yes to because it would be rude not to . But what an amazing thing to be asked to do. What a privilege.'

The Scottish actor also insisted he would be taking a softer approach to the aggressive style Ricky Gervais used to great effect at the Golden Globes.

“I think the BAFTA mood is supportive and friendly,” he added. “Ricky Gervais is brilliant at what he does, but that wouldn’t be my style.”

“I don’t think I have that approach, so I think you just have to be who you are. “But we have good material that doesn’t leave anyone feeling under attack.”

Tennant revealed that he was completely shocked when he received an email asking if he wanted to host the annual awards ceremony.

Speaking to Radio Times, he said: “At the moment, a month on, it feels like a bit of thrill and fun.”

“An extraordinary opportunity to do something very unusual and exciting.” People keep asking me how nervous I am, how I prepare for it and so on, and that's starting to make me nervous.

“Who knows why they asked me!” I just thought I'd say yes before they realized they sent the email to the wrong person.”

BAFTA CEO Jane Millichip confirmed that the academy was “over the moon” that Tennant would host the ceremony.

She said: “He is rightly popular with British and international audiences alike.”

“His warmth, charm and mischievous wit will make next month’s show a must-see for our guests at the Royal Festival Hall and the millions of people watching at home.”

Guest presenters for the evening include Bryce Dallas Howard, Callum Turner, Cate Blanchett, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Daisy Edgar Jones, David Beckham, Deepika Padukone, Dua Lipa, Emma Corrin, Gillian Anderson, Hugh Grant, Idris Elba, Jack O'Connell, Lily Collins, Rebecca Ferguson and Taylor Russell.

Emma Baehr, Executive Director of Awards & Content, said: “It is an honor to welcome so many nominees for the EE BAFTA Film Awards this Sunday, representing some of the best creative talent on and behind the screen today Film Work.” which gave audiences worldwide an incredible year of film.

“It is a pleasure to bring these 38 remarkable films and the teams that made them to the public.”

“With host David Tennant bringing his charm and charisma to the ceremony, and performances from Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Hannah Waddingham, it promises to be an entertaining show for all our nominees and guests at the Royal Festival Hall and the millions of viewers. “At home around the world.”

In 2023, acting veteran Richard E. Grant took the stage as host of the BAFTAs and, in his opening monologue, referenced the infamous moment at the 2022 Academy Awards when film star Will Smith slapped presenter Chris Rock.

He told the star-studded crowd: “Nobody under my watch is getting slapped tonight – except on the shoulder.”

In 2022, “Pitch Perfect” and “Bridesmaids” actress Rebel Wilson made risqué jokes about the royal family, Russian President Vladimir Putin, the gender pay gap, the flop film “Cats” in which she starred, and her recent weight loss.

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts is a world-leading independent arts organization, drawing attention to the best of film, games and television and supporting the development of creative talent in the UK and around the world.

The organization also recognizes outstanding achievements and promotes young talent through year-round workshops, scholarships, masterclasses, mentoring programs and lectures.
