23 burglaries in 3 years at the same restaurant

A restaurateur from Seattle in the US says he has “lost faith” in local authorities after falling victim to what he believes is the 23rd break-in at his premises in three years.

“I have lost trust in the city of Seattle, the police, the local councils and the elected officials of the state,” he said in an interview with local radio KTTH, but insisted on anonymity out of fear his restaurant would be targeted again .

The most recent break-in apparently occurred on February 3, when surveillance cameras captured images of a man breaking a window to gain entry to his premises, the New York Post reports.

His actions did not activate the restaurant's alarm system and it was only when a passer-by noticed the broken window that the police were informed about the crime.

No items were reported stolen in this incident.

According to the hypotheses that the police put forward in their incident report, the man in question may have been looking for a safe but did not find it.

The city of Seattle cut its police department's budget in 2020 but increased it again last year as crime has risen sharply since the cut.
