A 73-year-old man was reported missing in South Tyrol on Sunday night. On Monday morning, at around 7:30 am, he was found in a meadow near Pinzagen, near the town of Brixen. The South Tyrolean was covered in bite wounds – including on his neck, upper body and arms – which could have come from an animal that has not yet been identified, as “stol.it” reports. The man was taken to hospital in Bolzano, where he died from his injuries in the afternoon.
A hiker walking her dog found the man in the meadow. He would have his eyes closed, but still breathing. “I talked to him until the emergency room arrived so he could stay conscious,” said the woman.
