He also called for studying and proposing appropriate compensation policies and mechanisms for medical personnel as part of the comprehensive salary policy reform, adopting stable and long-term policies to attract and utilize high-skilled workers, and improving the quality of the existing workforce.
Dinh Hue also pointed to health tourism as one of the growing trends in this industry and called for the development of programs and a legal framework to encourage the promotion of this specialty, according to VNA news agency.
The issue of management in the pharmaceutical sector was also raised the previous day by Vice Premier Tran Hong Ha, who asked to ensure completeness, transparency, quality control and more reasonable prices for medicines.
Regarding the reform of administrative procedures in the management, allocation and extension of drug traffic registration numbers, the Deputy Prime Minister pointed out that a follow-up mechanism and simple procedures must be applied.
In this sense, he specified that the Ministry of Health must have regulations on the recognition and reference as well as quality standards of medicines approved by the World Health Organization (WHO) or the national medicines administration authorities recommended by it.
In addition, he added, a series of clinical pharmacological evaluation criteria should be added to ensure safety and suitability for the physical condition of Vietnamese people.
The ultimate goal is to give people access to the best medicines, said Hong Ha, who said it is necessary to issue regulations to encourage and support foreign pharmaceutical companies to invest in production and technology transfer in Vietnam.
