An 82-year-old Quebec man is fighting for his life while on vacation in Mexico after being shot in a suspected attempted murder case linked to a love story, TVA Nouvelles has learned.
Yvon Langevin, a snowbird who has been visiting Acapulco for 30 years, was reportedly visited on Sunday by two men who opened fire as soon as he opened the door to his condo in the Tres area. Palos, east of the big tourist city, opened, says his friend Alain Tremblay.
“We unfortunately learned that our friend Yvon was shot twice in the chest,” he said. Two men knocked on the door of his house. They opened fire. The suspects also shot his pet. Yvon is kept in an induced coma.”
“He has so far undergone two surgeries to remove the projectiles from his body in the hope that he will recover,” he added. I don't know if they arrested the suspects. This is not Montreal, it’s difficult to get information from the police.”
The octogenarian whose wife died had struck up a relationship with a young woman in her early twenties.
He had recently seen this Mexican girl, 19 or 20 years old according to his friend, Mr. Tremblay.
However, the young woman had a partner and friends of the octogenarian believe that it was her Mexican husband who was involved in the attempted murder.
Yvon Langevin lives in St-Jacques-Le-Mineur in Montérégie, a municipality halfway between Montreal and the United States.
