According to our information, the panicked and injured man, who managed to escape from the apartment where he was being held hostage, went to a neighbor to ask for help.
He said he wanted to “protect his family,” a resident of Cap St-Ignace. The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) also spent much of the day outside its residence on Monday.
According to sources, his brother had been beaten up a few hours earlier in Cap-Saint-Ignace.

During a brief discussion, another family member said he “didn't sleep all night after everything that happened.” He said he was worried about the man, who managed to escape his attackers, but would not provide further details about the incident.
Noticeable concern
During the Journal's visit, several doors in the neighborhood remained closed. Some residents overcame their fears and stressed that they were “aware of the presence of cyclists” in the area.
“It was known but we never saw anything violent or criminal. […] After seeing this yesterday, I locked my doors for the first time since I arrived here,” says a resident of this more remote area of Cap-Saint-Ignace.
Félix Landry, a young man who lives nearby, says it was the first time in his life that he had seen a police car in the small village. “It was surprising to see that of course everyone said the same thing. »
An unpredictable conflict
Others who were aware of the rumor are not reassured by the violence that has raged in Greater Quebec for a year.
“It is certainly worrying, but the hells have a code of honor and do not attack the population. They do their business and then don't bother anyone, explains another neighbor. What worries me most are street gangs. The rest of them are unpredictable and from a distance you can see that they are not afraid of large animals. »
The mayor of Cap-Saint-Ignace, Jocelyne Caron, claims she is “following the investigation very closely.”
