NHL: The Coyotes say they are pleased with the loyalty of their fans

Despite the uproar surrounding their home stadium, the Arizona Coyotes have a record number of season tickets sold.

On Friday, the National Hockey League (NHL) club announced that 87% of its season ticket holders at Mullett Arena have renewed their subscriptions. This is a first for the team, which has been playing in the desert since 1996.

The Yotes will be at home at Arizona State University Amphitheater in 2022-23 after being kicked out of Desert Diamond Arena. In February 2022, the team signed a three-year deal to play its home games in the building, which only seats 5,000 spectators.

Additionally, the Coyotes also reported earning at least $1 million in ticket sales at four of their home games in 2023-2024. It was during visits from the Toronto Maple Leafs, Edmonton Oilers and Boston Bruins. The upcoming game against the Chicago Blackhawks on March 5th is the fourth on this list.

The visit of Connor Bedard and his gang on October 30th and that of the Pittsburgh Penguins on January 22nd enabled the “Yotes” to generate $950,000.

The Arizona club had earned at least $1 million on tickets to its arena just 37 times in 18 seasons before moving to Mullett Arena.

Currently, the Coyotes have not found a solution to find a new home after the 2024-2025 season. A plan to build an entertainment complex in Tempe was rejected by locals in a May 2023 referendum.

In early February, NHL Players' Association Director Marty Walsh minced his words and loudly called for a change of scenery for the team, while also expressing his disappointment with the work done by those in charge.
