A new album for John Lennon's son

It is a 100% instrumental jazz album that Sean Ono Lennon, the only son of the late John Lennon and his wife Yoko Ono, has just released on the platforms.

After three solo albums, several film soundtracks and a variety of collaborations with various groups – including his mother's, the Plastic Ono Band – Sean Ono Lennon returns with Asterisms, an essentially jazz project with notes of psychedelic rock and classical music.

“Asterisms,” recorded with seven other musicians, was originally scheduled to be released in 2020, but due to the pandemic, Ono Lennon decided to stay close to his mother and limit his outings to reduce the risk of infection.

The Beatles' Other Sons

Sean Ono Lennon isn't the only descendant of the legendary British band to follow in his father's footsteps.

James McCartney, Paul's son, released two EPs and two albums from 2010 to 2016. The latter also caused a stir in 2012 when he brought the idea of founding the group The Beatles: Next Generation to life. His goal then was to bring together the group members' other sons to cover his classics with a modern twist. According to him, Sean Ono Lennon and Dhani Harrison, George's son, seemed interested, but Ringo Starr's sons were less enthusiastic about the idea.

In the case of Richard Starkey, alias Ringo Starr, the apple didn't fall far from the tree either. His son Zak assists The Who as drummer on tour and also held this position for Oasis in the early 2000s.
