New comments that will get a lot of ink flowing. At a meeting with a group of conservative African-Americans in South Carolina on Friday, Donald Trump said: “A lot of people say that black people like him because they suffered so much and were discriminated against and that they see him as someone who was discriminated against.” Comments regarding the multiple legal proceedings initiated against the former American president.
The one hoping to retake the White House in the next election has gone even further. “I stand on behalf of you, the American people. I am charged for you, the black population,” he assured. “Some of the greatest evils in our country's history stem from corrupt systems that seek to target and subjugate others in order to deprive them of their freedom and rights. “I think that's why black people are so on my side today, because they make sure that what happens to me happens to them too,” he explained. At the same time, an official from Joe Biden's campaign team, Cedric Richmond, called these comments “racist.” “For Donald Trump to claim that African Americans would support him because of his criminal charges is offensive. It’s stupid,” he criticized in a press release.
