Charles Aznavour would have been 100 years old on May 22nd. On this occasion, the memory of the popular French-Armenian singer will be celebrated with a symphonic show on exactly his 100th birthday Aznavour 100 years which will be presented at the Place des Arts.
Producer and artistic director Gil Marsalla explains that he chose the city of Montreal to present this tribute show as a major North American premiere because it is a city that the artist and poet “so loved and celebrated.” In fact, for more than 70 years, Aznavour has lived a beautiful love story with the metropolis – the first city to recognize his immense talent.
The singer also stated, “Armenia is my soul and Quebec is more like my heart,” as he received his honorary degree from the Order of Canada.
It is the singer, actor and director Jules Grison who will deliver the greatest hits of the singer-songwriter who died on October 1, 2018 in Mouriès, France. The artist recognized on the international music scene is a regular and lover of the world of French song. He has already paid tribute to Charles Aznavour with the show “Formidable!” which was presented in Quebec in 2018.

The symphony orchestra, consisting of more than 50 musicians, is led by the internationally renowned music arranger Nobuyuki Nakajima. His style is characterized by his unique way of combining Western influences in French music with Eastern influences, including those from his native Japan.

Charles Aznavour, the singer who fans liked to believe was immortal, died at the age of 94. His disappearance sent a shockwave through his audience in Quebec, France and the rest of the world.
Tickets for the show Aznavour 100 years, which will be presented on May 22, 2024 at the Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier at Place des Arts, are now on sale.
