The “Als” acquired Lyon as part of the transaction with the Edmonton Elks on August 31, 2022. The 27-year-old and Thomas Costigan were acquired from the Alouettes in exchange for Avery Ellis and a third-round pick in the 2023 draft.
In six games with Montreal this season, he had 27 tackles and one interception for a touchdown.
Lyon only played one game in 2023 after suffering a serious knee injury in the first part of the season.
“We are thrilled to have Nafees with us for another year,” said Danny Maciocia, general manager of Alouettes, in a press release. Coming out of training camp last year, he was one of our starters on defense. He has worked very hard to recover from his injury and we are very confident that he will play a leading role for us in 2024.
