In “Renascer,” another character enters the scene. This time, Teacher Lu comes to the rural area of Ilhéus with a mission to reopen the village school. But before reopening, the room must undergo a renovation sponsored by José Inocêncio (Marcos Palmeira). Eli Ferreira plays the character in the remake, returning to the screen a year after his last work on television in “Mar do sertão”. In the original version shown in 1993, Professor Lu was played by Leila Lopes (19592009).

In the first version, Lu João became Pedro's best friend and helped him in matters of the heart. When she started teaching at the school, the teacher took on a role as a counselor in the city. Mysterious and lonely, she felt her heart beating faster with the arrival of Rafael (actor not yet cast).
The boy arrives in chapter 189 of the soap opera after looking for the teacher. It's just that they had a romance in the past and between comings and goings they decided to give love a chance. They got married in the final week of the soap opera.

What happened to Professor Lu from “Renascer”?
A year after her debut at Globo, Leila Lopes filmed her second soap opera in “Despedida de Bachelor” (1992). After “Renascer,” she was also part of the cast of five series. Leila was found dead in her apartment in São Paulo in 2009 at the age of 50.
