NHL: The Bruins can thank Geekie

In a game full of twists and turns, the Boston Bruins defeated the Vegas Golden Knights 5-4 at TD Garden on Thursday night.

Striker Morgan Geekie played his part in his team's success, scoring a hat-trick. He initially scored two goals in the first period before adding a third goal at the end of the second period.

However, the Bruins were scared. After taking a 3-0 lead, the Golden Knights got back into the game, with the latter scoring three goals, particularly in the second period. Finally, it was Mason Lohrei who scored the winning goal for the local favorites.

Paul Cotter, Alex Pietrangelo, Michael Amadio and Chandler Stephenson provided the answer for Bruce Cassidy's men.

In the win, Jeremy Swayman made 32 saves for the Massachusetts team. Adin Hill, meanwhile, stopped 27 pucks.

Another loss for the Coyotes

The Coyotes posted their 13th straight loss, losing 4-2 to the Maple Leafs in Toronto.

The start of the game certainly wasn't particularly spectacular for André Tourigny's team; the Maple Leafs took a 3-0 lead. Notably, Auston Matthews scored his 53rd goal of the season, while Arizona native Matthew Knies and Tyler Bertuzzi also turned heads off the ropes for the Queen City club.

However, the Coyotes didn't give up and cut the deficit to one goal early in the third period thanks to efforts from Alex Kerfoot and Logan Cooley.

However, William Nylander sealed the outcome of the game by firing into an empty net.

After a long absence, goalkeeper Joseph Woll returned to the Toronto goal and made 30 saves.

The Arizona team will look to end its terrible streak on Friday against the Ottawa Senators.

A second win in a row for the Islanders

The New York Islanders won for the second straight season with a 5-3 victory over the Detroit Red Wings.

Thanks to goals from Brock Nelson and Casey Cizikas, Patrick Roy's players took a 2-0 lead in the first period. However, the Red Wings got back into the game twice. Patrick Kane brought the two teams back to 2-2, and a few minutes after Nelson's second goal of the game, Olli Maata copied him and brought the score back to 3-3.

Mathew Barzal finally ended the debate with 6:02 minutes left in the game. Pierre Engvall also scored when the Red Wings failed to score at the end of the game.

This win allows the Islanders to move from eighth place to six points in the Eastern Conference, which is held by the Tampa Bay Lightning. The California team lost 3-2 to the Buffalo Sabers in overtime on Thursday.
