Argentina, Milei: Forward with or without political leadership Last hour

“The country is at a turning point.

You can hold on to an unjust system, or you can put your special interests aside and cooperate with our mission. We will move forward with or without the help of the political leadership.” This was stated by Argentine President Javier Milei in his first speech to the chambers assembled to open the legislative year, in which he announced the proposal for a new “political pact”. for the re-foundation of the South American country.

“I don't have much hope, but I will give you a new chance.” However, the pact, which will be celebrated symbolically on May 25 on the occasion of Fatherland Day, contains one condition: prior approval of the two laws passed in January of the Chamber and which constituted the main body of the ultra-liberal leader's government program. “I ordered the Chief Cabinet Secretary to invite the governors of all provinces to the Casa Rosada to sign a preliminary agreement approving the omnibus law and the tax package,” Milei said. The new pact proposed by the Argentine president therefore includes ten points that are intended to be transformed into real state policy. In addition to the first principle, which establishes the “inviolability of private property”, these include the principle of budget balance and a reduction in public spending of the order of 25%.
