“Revolution on tour”: incredible acts and a roaring atmosphere

More than fifteen dancers from revolution were back on stage at the St-Denis Theater in Montreal on Thursday to present the new version of the show Revolution on tour.

This new show was once again directed by dance master and artistic director Lydia Bouchard and allowed the audience to get reacquainted with 18 of their favorite dancers, including the winner of the last edition, Gabrielle Boudreau, as well as Sunny Boisvert St-Hillien, Yelda Del Carmen Leyva Espinosa, Marie -Josée Corriveau and Jason Morel Canavaggia, Diffo and Clique.

Greeted like rock stars and cheered on throughout the evening by the crowd, who did not hesitate to sing the artists' good moves, the dancers presented new numbers, but also some that referenced performances during the show, especially those of Marie- Josée Corriveau and Jason Morel Canavaggia, which dealt with domestic violence.

On stage, the collaboration between the dancers, who remained on stage most of the time between performances, was palpable. They support each other, encourage each other, and casually participate in accentuating movements in a group effect or in consolidating the universe around certain choreographies by, among other things, making waves with their bodies.

The group performances were mostly successful and appreciated by the audience. This is particularly true of the hip-hop performance that recreates the face-to-face stage in Imposs' “Face-à-face,” but some dancers also stood out individually. This is the case of Katherine Leblanc (Team White), who presented an impressive number where she danced with a model; by Gabrielle Boudreau, who captivated in “Piece of My Heart” by Janis Joplin; and Sunny Boisvert St-Hillien, who was touching in her tribute to her grandmother.

The Clique and Afro dancers Diffo created a tidal wave in the room every time they appeared on stage.

The “Révolution en tour” show is a great showcase for the dancers, but also for the 17 choreographers who took part in the project – many artists in the show this year actually did both: dance and choreograph for others.

Revolution on Tour will run at the Théâtre St-Denis in Montreal until mid-March, then make stops in Gatineau and Quebec City in the coming weeks. For more details click here.
