A return to political life could await National Hockey League Players' Association (NHLPA) director Marty Walsh as he is coveted by none other than United States President Joe Biden.
The tenant of the White House chose the 56-year-old as governor of the United States Postal Service (USPS). Nine governors sit on the board of the country's state postal service and two positions need to be filled.

This is a part-time job and according to the Daily Faceoff website, Walsh has informed the NHLPA of this appointment. However, he is not seeking a full-time return to politics, having represented players on the Bettman circuit for almost a year.
“I am very committed to the players, I love my work at the NHLPA,” he told the trade media. I'm really looking forward to my first year. My job is with the NHLPA. I have been in politics for 25 years and have reached a different phase in my life. I have no political ambitions for the future and perhaps never again.”
The Democratic Party member was mayor of Boston between 2014 and 2021. He then served as U.S. Secretary of Labor from 2021 to 2023 before replacing Donald Fehr as director of the NHL players' union.
