Three men wanted for attempted house burglary in Lévis

Three people are wanted after they attempted to force their way into a home in Lévis on Saturday evening.

At around 6 p.m., the Lévis City Police Department (SPVL) was called to intervene in connection with a house burglary on Route Lagueux, in the Saint-Étienne-de-Lauzon sector.

“Three hooded suspects came to the door of the house and attempted to force their way in. One of them was equipped with a handgun,” explains Sergeant Patrick Bouchard from the SPVL.

Apparently there was an argument between the residents of the residence and the three unexpected visitors.

The three people then fled. Lévis police mobilized a dog handler to comb the huge security perimeter set up after the crime scene.

Police are still searching for the three men, but the search area was lifted overnight.

According to Sergeant Bouchard, it is still too early to determine whether this event has a connection to the drug war.

Tension

The day after the house break-in, there was a tense atmosphere in the “normally very quiet” residential area.

“It's the first time I've seen the police there,” said Sarah Bernard, a woman who lives close to the crime scene. In the current context, this is somewhat worrying. We lock our doors.”

Other neighbors cautiously poked their heads out of the doorway and declined the Journal's interview request.

“We are not taking any risks with everything that is happening these days. The police came to our house last night and also looked in the yard to see if the three boys had been there. They took the situation very seriously,” continues a man who lives behind the house where the mysterious scene occurred.

A shotgun?

TVA Nouvelles was able to speak to one of the residents of the apartment on Route Lagueux. The latter provided a completely different version than the police.

She says she lives there with her three children, two in their 20s and another six years old. The lady claims that the thugs didn't try to break in, they preferred to ring the doorbell.

According to the mother, there was no argument with the spontaneous visitors. She would not have been afraid because the teenagers would have been armed with an air pistol and not a firearm.

Despite the victim's statement, the SPVL did not want to change its version of the facts, stressing that “the investigation will shed light on this matter, which is taken very seriously.”

Two violent events

It was the second violent event of the weekend in the region. On Friday, a 27-year-old man was arrested following the attempted murder of a 60-year-old woman on Rue de Repentigny in Quebec.

The victim, who according to our information was the mother of her attacker, was seriously injured by a bladed weapon. She remained in critical condition Sunday.
