Vietnam's prime minister travels to Australia for the ASEAN summit

“Partnership for the future” will be the theme that will dominate the working sessions of the meeting, which, according to officials, will take place when cooperation between the two parties is dynamically developing in many areas.

The meeting will be an opportunity to review the progress of their relations over the past 50 years and exchange measures to further promote bilateral relations in line with the framework of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership established in 2021.

In this context and in statements to the VNA news agency, Australian Ambassador here Andrew Goledzinowski recalled that his country was the first to become a comprehensive strategic partner of ASEAN.

There is a lot to discuss for both sides, said the diplomat, and assured that Australia wants to strengthen cooperation with this bloc, which has become the second most important trading partner, ahead of South Korea, Japan or the USA.

Australia, he stressed, seeks to further consolidate and expand relations with ASEAN on this basis, with the aim of building strategic and political cooperation in the region.

As expected by Goledzinowski, the participants of the special summit will focus their discussions on aspects such as the transition to clean energy, maritime cooperation or the role of emerging leaders, among others.

This event is also expected to help enhance ASEAN's role in maintaining stability, peace and dialogue in the region and the world, the ambassador predicted.

Minh Chinh, who traveled accompanied by eight ministers, will take advantage of his participation in the meeting to visit Australia and New Zealand as part of a trip that will last until the 11th, following the invitation of his counterpart from these countries, Anthony Albanese , to follow and Christopher Luxon.

These will be Minh Chinh's first official visits to these countries in his new position in more than seven years, which is expected to help strengthen political trust and deepen multifaceted cooperation.
