Medvedev showed, according to Ria Novosti a “new” map of Eastern Europewhich identifies parts of Ukraine as part of other states.

On the map, the Vinnytsia region is attributed to Romania, Uzhgorod to Hungary, and Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk and Zhytomyr to Poland. The rest of the country – Odessa, Nikolayev, Cherkassy, Chernigov, Poltava, Dnipro, Zaporozhye, Sumy and Kherson are shown in Medvedev's photo – will therefore belong to Russia in the future. Only a small territory around the capital Kiev is expected to remain Ukraine.

Medvedev had already published such a map on his Telegram channel in July 2022. At the time, the former president stated that this was how Western analysts imagined Ukraine. Subsequently, Medvedev repeatedly stated that Poland would claim western Ukraine as its territory.

“7pm, the sky is clear” Russia apparently no longer flies over eastern Ukraine

State Duma deputy Viktor Sobolev contradicted Medvedev. Parts of Ukraine should not be left to other states, he told the pro-Kremlin online newspaper Gazeta.ru. He served in the army in western Ukraine for eight years. “These are our people,” said Sobolev, who is a member of the Defense Committee. “How can we leave this to Romania?” And he added: “We are not sister nations, we are one people.”

Sobolev said he agreed with President Vladimir Putin, who said that sooner or later we would unite. It is not right to strengthen “non-friendly states” by ceding territory, said the politician, referring to Poland and Romania. “Our great ancestors first formed the Russian Empire, then the Soviet Union. I don’t think we should give anything to anyone.”
