A system will dump significant amounts of rain across the United States through Thursday. It will touch Quebec and leave some precipitation. The scenario will repeat itself this weekend. Forecast.

Barely

The coastal low that will affect the northeastern United States will also leave its mark on our neighbors to the south. Heavy rainfall is expected in the middle of the week. But this system will move east and only touch Quebec. We will still see a few drops Wednesday through Thursday, but not the amounts expected in New England. A second system of the same type will move into the south of the province by the end of the week. It should mostly rain, in larger amounts than previous days, there is even a chance of snow. However, the models do not yet agree on the details of this system.

Up to 100mm of rain

While Quebec expects about 5 to 15 mm of rain, areas of the United States affected by the storm will receive up to 100 mm or even more in places by Thursday.

In fact, with this system, certain sectors will receive even more rainfall than Quebec has accumulated so far in 2024. It should be noted that Quebec has not been very spoiled so far in 2024 in terms of rainfall and storms, and their numbers prove it.

And in Quebec?

Certainly these two systems will hardly affect the province. They will still leave heavy rain in places, especially in the northwest, in Abitibi-Témiscamingue and very close to the border. Overall, no more than 10 to 15 mm of rainfall is expected. The first system will arrive in Quebec on Tuesday. There will be a few associated drops on Wednesday afternoon and evening. Then the next drops from a second system will arrive on Saturday for the west of the province and on Saturday evening for the Outaouais and Montreal. Then the St. Lawrence Valley will be affected. In places the rain could turn into wet snow depending on the areas and the temperatures we will have.
