Dakota Johnson has no illusions about the critical and commercial reception of her latest film, “Madame Web.”
Johnson responded to the negativity in a new interview with Bustle, saying, “Unfortunately, I'm not surprised it turned out the way it did.”
Later in the interview she said: “But it was definitely an experience for me making this film. I had never done anything like this before. I’ll probably never do anything like that again because I don’t make sense in this world. And I know that now.”

Johnson also noted that the final film wasn't exactly what she signed up for.

“But sometimes in this industry you sign something and it's one thing, and then when you do it it becomes a completely different thing and you're like, 'Wait, what?' But it was a real learning experience, and of course it's not nice to be part of something that's been torn to pieces, but I can't say I don't understand it.”

In the film, Johnson played the titular character of Cassandra Webb/Madame Web, a clairvoyant paramedic linked to the legendary superhero Spider-Man. According to Variety, “Madame Web” earned just $26.2 million over the six-day holiday weekend from its Valentine's Day premiere through Presidents Day.
The debut of Madame Web marked the worst opening of any film in the Sony Spider-Man universe and one of the worst openings of any film based on a Marvel Comics character. The film was met with a barrage of negative reviews and currently has an abysmal 13% critic rating on Rotten Tomatoes, while the audience rating is disappointing at 55%.
Johnson also told Bustle that it's “so hard to make movies,” and she's seeing a shift in both big and small films, where “decisions are made by committee, and art doesn't do well when it's made by committee.” becomes.” “

“Films are made by a filmmaker and a team of artists around him,” she continued. “You can’t make art based on numbers and algorithms. I have long felt that audiences are extremely smart, and executives have begun to believe that this is not the case. Audiences will always be able to spot cops. Even if movies are made with AI, people sure as hell won't want to watch them.
True to her dry sense of humor when dealing with the press, Johnson joked during the interview that she could predict the headlines that would result from her conversation with the newspaper.

“For example, 'Dakota Johnson breaks her silence on Madame Web's damn blockbuster,'” she said. “It’s like, ‘No, I’m not breaking silence. I'm just talking.'”
During her press tour for “Madame Web,” many felt that Johnson appeared disinterested and dismissive of the film, and some social media users called her interviews “unhinged.”

“Every unhinged interview Dakota Johnson gives makes me want to see more Madame Web,” one person wrote.
As an example of her apparent lack of enthusiasm for the film, host Josh Horowitz noted during an MTV interview that there is a scene in the film where Johnson's character dies three minutes in.
After Johnson appeared confused, Horowitz asked, “Do you remember that?”

“She does? I haven’t seen the movie,” Johnson said. “You could be right.”

She added: “That’s why I have my own company. In a film like this.” [referring to ‘Madame Web’]I have nothing to say about anything.
The Fifty Shades of Gray star also addressed headlines about her needing 14 hours of sleep, revealing that it actually led to an argument with someone she knew.
“Really, but I know I exaggerated in this interview and you can tell I'm exaggerating because you can see my face. When it's written down, it's hard. But it's okay. I had a funny little argument with someone,” she said. “It really annoyed me that everyone in the world was talking about my sleep schedule and someone I know was like, 'But do you really sleep 14 hours a night ? That is amazing.' And I was like, “Did you read the article or did you just read the damn headline? A–hole.” I bit her head off.

In the original Wall Street Journal interview, Johnson said: “I'm not functional if I can do less than 10 hours. I can easily last 14 hours,” adding, “I don’t have a regular time.” [wake-up] Time. It depends on what is happening in my life. If I'm not working, if I have a day off on Monday, then I sleep as long as I can. Sleep is my top priority in life.”
She further clarified with Bustle, “I don't have a nine-to-five job, so I don't wake up at the same time every day. Some days when I'm shooting, I wake up at three in the morning, and I work 17 hours a day, and then when I'm not working, I sleep a lot because I'm fucking exhausted. Or I'm depressed. So just everyone, f— up. [Laughs.]”

However, Johnson admitted that she likes to exaggerate or lie when speaking to the press, saying that's “the most fun.” The most fun.”
She added: “Sometimes when you're in a ridiculous situation, you just have to be ridiculous.”
