The 36-year-old actress has previously mentioned multiple episodes of violence in court in Fairfax, Virginia, where her lawyers are expected to conclude their questioning soon ahead of a contradictory debate led by Johnny Depp’s defense, who promises to be without mercy.
The first four weeks of this extraordinary trial, which was televised live, have scarred a “toxic” relationship between a young actress of strong character and a millionaire actor addicted to alcohol and drugs, the former couple reported.
The ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ franchise star accused his ex-wife of ruining his reputation and career by claiming in a 2018 Washington Post op-ed that she suffered domestic violence two years earlier, but without Johnny to quote idiot.
He is demanding $50 million in damages. She counters and asks for the double.
At the top, she often tearfully recounted how, under the influence of alcohol and drugs, Johnny Depp became a jealous, obsessive, and brutal “monster.”
“He hated, hated James Franco,” with whom she made a film in May 2014 and with whom he accused her of having an affair, she explained, for example.
“He hates me”
During a stay in Australia in March 2015, their arguments reached their climax.
“I’m against the wall and he yells at me that he hates me, that I ruined his life,” she said, unable to hold back tears as she recalled three days of hell.
“He told me, ‘Fuck, I’m going to kill you,'” she added, before shoving a bottle of alcohol up her vagina.
Johnny Depp, who allegedly severed his fingertip on a broken bottle, wrote offensive messages on the walls with his own blood.
The 58-year-old actor gave a very different version at the end of April: It was a bottle thrown by Amber Heard that cut off his finger, he said.
He denies ever raising his hand against Amber Heard and affirms that it was she who was violent.
Very quiet and at times flirtatious, he admitted to using drugs and alcohol heavily, but claims to have controlled his use most of the time.
According to financial experts presented by his lawyers, the platform had billed him $22.5 million in fees for the sixth Pirates work, which he was fired from after its release.
Deliberations are scheduled to continue until May 27, after which the seven jurors will retire to deliberate.
The actor is suing his ex-wife in the United States, two years after losing a first defamation lawsuit in London. He had attacked the British tabloid The Sun, which called him an “abusive husband”.
He and Amber Heard began an affair in 2011 before marrying in February 2015. The actress had filed a domestic violence complaint in May 2016, but according to Jonnhy Depp, she did it to get revenge after he announced her intention to divorce.
She had dropped those charges during divorce proceedings, which were finalized through a financial transaction in early 2017.
