Heard asks Depp to stop audio defamation campaign

Emotional audio was played in court this Monday during the multi-million dollar defamation trial between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard. The Aquaman actress said she begged her then-husband to stop calling her a “liar” over her alleged abuse.

The audio features a recorded conversation between the actors in June 2016, a month after Heard filed for divorce from Depp.

“They call me a liar and a gold digger,” she is heard to say.

“I don’t lie about this shit and I’m not after your money.”

Heard told the court she wanted Depp to stop calling her a “liar” and stop the “smear campaign” that was allegedly started against her.

“He was trying to get Johnny to stop the smear campaign he was starting,” he said.

Heard claimed Depp told her he was “ruining” her and her career.

“Johnny said he would ruin me. That no one would ever touch me professionally, that no one would ever work with me again,” he said.

“That I would never work again. That it would ruin my career.”

“Don’t call me a liar. Don’t say this isn’t real,” said Heard, trying to urge Depp to move on.

The actress again took the stand to testify for a third day as the trial resumed Monday in Fairfax, Virginia, after a week-long hiatus.

Depp is suing his ex-wife for defamation over a 2018 op-ed by the actress for The Washington Post, in which she described herself as “a public figure who portrays domestic violence.”

The ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ actor is said in the titled article, “Speaking out against sexual violence and facing the wrath of our culture. That needs to change.”

However, Depp claims the lyrics falsely imply he is a domestic abuser, which he adamantly denies, and that it has forced him to compete for roles in Hollywood. He is suing for $50 million.

Heard Files $100 Million Countersuit; accuses Depp of organizing a “smear campaign” against him and describes his lawsuit as a continuation of “abuse and harassment”.
