Croatia: in Zagreb, 550 km from Ukraine, a mysterious “Soviet” car crashed

Mystery: Last night from Thursday to Friday, a car crashed in a park in the Croatian capital Zagreb, police said. Local media reports that it is likely a Soviet-made reconnaissance drone recently used by Ukrainian forces.

The authorities have closed access to the park, located six kilometers from the city center, and have not yet provided details about the type of device. Police were alerted by residents who heard “detonation following the car’s fall,” according to a press release.

“In the green zone” of Jarun Park, bordering the lake, a “crater” was found, as well as “two parachutes,” according to the same source. Several cars were damaged.

Local media, citing a military aviation expert, say it could be one of the Tu-141s recently used by Ukrainian forces. This is a Soviet-made drone used in the 1970s and 1980s and landing using parachutes.

Zagreb is about 550 km in a straight line from the nearest border with Ukraine, which has been invaded by Russian troops since February 24. Croatia has been a NATO member since 2009.
