Two superyachts owned by Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich are heading east after Britain imposed sanctions on the billionaire on Thursday.

Among the sanctions imposed on him, the UK government said Abramovich’s assets had been frozen, meaning his yachts and private jets were at risk of being seized.

Abramovich’s 460-foot Solaris was discovered off the east coast of Italy on Friday, according to the Marine Traffic website. It left a shipyard in Barcelona, Spain on Tuesday, where it has been docked for repairs since late 2021, according to Reuters.

It is not clear where the Solaris is sailing. Marine Traffic reports that its port’s destination is not recognized. Solaris is valued at $600 million, according to SuperYacht Fan.

Meanwhile, Abramovich’s 533-foot yacht Eclipse has been cruising east from St. Martin’s Island in the Caribbean since Feb. 21, Marine Traffic data shows. The boat, worth $700 million per SuperYacht fan, was off the west coast of Africa on Friday, Marine Traffic reported.

As with Solaris, there is no destination port for the Eclipse on the Marine Traffic website, so it is not clear where the superyacht will dock next.

Together, the yachts are worth over $1 billion.

Since the invasion of Ukraine, sanctioned Russian oligarchs like Abramovich have sought to move their yachts and private jets around the world in an attempt to protect their assets.

Abramovich, who has a net worth of $13.7 billion according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, owns Chelsea Football Club. He announced last week that he was selling the club, but UK sanctions mean he cannot proceed with the sale.
