“As much as we hate to admit it, pretty much the whole world is against us,” retired Russian Colonel Mikhail Khodaryonok admitted live on Russian state television.
A retired colonel and military analyst was exceptionally candid – and pessimistic – on Monday live on Russian state television about the course of the war and the current military situation of Russian troops. On the channel’s talk show “Rosiya 1”, Mikhail Khodaryonok admitted in a panel discussion: “The situation will definitely get worse for us”.
He was not limited to the military losses Russia suffered recently. But also in the arms aid that Europe has promised Ukraine. “Considering that European aid will be fully effective, we will soon face a million armed Ukrainian soldiers. We have to take this into account in our operational and strategic calculations.”
Also, don’t believe all the information out there. For example, the one about supposedly low morale in the Ukrainian army. “All this is wrong, to say the least,” he said.
“Practically the whole world is against us”
The military expert also criticized the Kremlin’s reaction to the Nordic countries Finland and Sweden’s NATO membership efforts. Russian President Vladimir Putin called Finland’s planned NATO membership a mistake and threatened retaliatory measures. Khodaryonok is now saying on Russian television: “Don’t engage in saber missiles against Finland.”
The most important thing in the military field is to maintain “a sense of military-political realism”: “If you go beyond this, sooner or later the reality of history will hit you so hard that you will regret it.”
Finally, Khodaryonok also spoke of the “complete geopolitical isolation” in which his country finds itself. “As much as we hate to admit it, pretty much the whole world is against us,” he said. This is the most serious flaw in the political-military position. “And we have to get out of this situation.”
