The main Oscar nominee, Jane Campion’s “The Power of the Dog”, failed to win nominations for Best Ensemble, but three of its actors – Benedict Cumberbatch, Kirsten Dunst and Cody Smith-McPhee – are for individual awards.
Winning the best ensemble does not automatically make a film a favorite at the Oscars, but actors have the greatest influence because they make up the largest percentage of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Last year, the actors chose the drama in the courtroom of Aaron Sorkin from the 60s of last century, “The Chicago 7 Trial”, and the best picture of the Oscars was for “Nomadland”. A year earlier, the choice of SAG for Parasite foreshadowed the Oscar winner.
In the TV categories, Ted Lasso of Apple TV + ranks with five leading nominations, followed by HBO’s Succession, Apple’s Morning Show and the much-watched Netflix Squid Game – all for four awards.

The awards are presented by the Screen Actors Guild – American Federation of Television and Radio Artists.
Founded in 1952, the awards recognize outstanding performances in films and television shows.
