A rapper joins the Canadian Elite Basketball League

Jermaine Lamarr Cole, better known by his stage name J. Cole, will join the Scarborough Shooting Stars in the Canadian Elite Basketball League.

This was announced by The Athletic on Thursday.

That means the rapper is beginning this new chapter in his basketball career at the same time as the Montreal Alliance, the ninth franchise on the circuit, set to debut in 2022.

The German native, best known for his song lyrics, has often expressed an interest in basketball after playing at the 2012 NBA All-Star Game. It will even be a second professional experience.

In 2021 he joined the BBC Patriots of Rwanda in the African Basketball League. However, it was just five points, as many rebounds and three assists in three games before he left the club due to “family commitments”.
