After digital influencer Camila Loures took to social media crying because an Uber employee had thrown her out of the vehicle, a major debate erupted online about the driver’s hiring. This Thursday 19th, the transport application company has commented on the matter, stating that the driver will continue to work for the platform. But in the end what really happened?

According to the PodCats presenter, the driver would have refused to close the car window due to Covid19 protocol. If she had said no, she would have repeated the request, but this time only to close the window a little more, which was again refused.
“I’ve never been through that, how desperate. I just got on Uber and asked the driver to close the window, he said it was Covid protocols, I asked him to close a little more. He said ‘I’ll pull up here and you ask for another car’, I said ‘no boy that’s ok’. He stopped the car and I said I could go on, he stopped and told us to get out of the car,” the influencer said, crying over what had happened.
“It was desperate. [ficamos] in the middle of an avenue in São Paulo. At that time, Luís asked for another car, it came quickly and we left, I was shaking, I don’t know what happened,” he continued.
According to Camila, she would have requested the car in “Uber Black” mode because it would make her feel safer when it came to theft and robbery.
“I like to use Uber Black to drive with the window closed to avoid theft because I know two people who have been robbed while using Uber […] I asked for Uber Black and set the AC option. When I got in, I asked for the window to be closed. He said no. As per Covid protocol I explained that I had activated the option to turn on the air conditioning. He took it and said, ‘I’ll stop the car and you ask for another’”.
“When he stopped the car he said to ask for another one, I started crying in desperation and he said ‘get out of my car’. Luís asked for someone else, I could only cry, I called my brother in desperation,” she reported.

Will the Uber employee continue on the platform?
According to the transport app company itself, the driver of the vehicle that first met Camila Loures and asked her to get out of the car will continue to work on the platform.
“We want to clarify that the driver partner is still active on the platform. This case is still under review as in all cases we heard both parties to better understand what happened. We follow a strict process to ensure everyone involved has the right to be heard.”

What has Uber said about its employee’s attitude towards the influencer?
Uber said it is providing guidance to its partners and users to follow local authority regulations in light of Covid19.
“Regarding the fight against Covid19, Uber advises all its partners and users to follow the rules and local authorities. In cities where there is no need to open windows, this is also optional when using the application. In any case, many people may still feel safer following the protocols due to personal or family health issues. Therefore, we ask that each respect each other’s individual preferences. If anyone involved feels unwell, you can cancel the trip at any time.
