The International Book Fair is returning to Holguín soon

Holguín, May 22 (ACN) With more than 26 cultural and literary spaces and about 392 editorial novelties, it reaches Holguin the XXX edition of the International Book Fairof the next 26 to 29, after two years without arrest due to COVID-19.

This event, dedicated to the writers Luis Álvarez and Alberto Prieto, and Mexico as guest of honor, will include the presence in the province of nine exhibiting countries, including Panama, Colombia and Peru, who will present various titles.

In a special way, this year the fair will pay tribute to the Holguine writers Manuel García Verdecia and Eugenio Marron Casanova, important intellectuals who cultivate poetry, narrative, journalism, essays and criticism, and intellectuals of the same generation, promoted with the booming culture of the 80s of the last century in this city.

Also the 25th anniversary of Ediciones La Luz, seal of the Hermanos Saíz Association (AHS) in the province, the 60th anniversary of the weekly newspaper ¡ahora! and the Holguin University book are celebrated.

Sarahí Ferrer, director of the Provincial Center for Books and Literature, commented at a press conference that this year there will be a great variety of titles that the public will find in the Gran Librería in Plaza de la Marqueta and in the more than 11 tents , which will be set up alongside other points of sale around Calixto García Park.

For children’s presentations, the pavilion will have its place at Calle Mercado 1, while the Provincial Museum of History La Periquera will house the professional space of the Ediciones Holguín; For its part, the University Pavilion will be housed in the Casa de la Prensa; La Hora Tercia will take place at the Provincial Center for Plastic Arts, and La Luz will remain at the publisher’s headquarters; In addition, activities will reach prioritized communities, schools and cultural institutions in the rest of the city, he explained.

In this sense, Ediciones Holguín presents more than 35 novelties from its catalogue, including a new edition of Ella escribía postcrítica by Margarita Mateo, National Literary Prize; Ground Zero, by Anton Arrufat; and art outside the Museum of Adelaida de Juan; as well as titles by universal authors that are the result of the translation work, emphasized Kenya Leyva, editor of the label.

For its part, La Luz will host the presentation of about 40 new books, including On the Last Day of the World, a poetic compilation by José Emilio Pacheco, a tribute to this Mexican author in the year the event is dedicated to the land of the Aztecs, with compilation and selections by Erian Peña, specified editor Liset Prego.

The catalog of young poetry, the collection of mirrors for the little ones, narrative, theater and research texts also stand out from the extensive programme; in addition to the audiobooks and e-books published by this publisher celebrating its 25th anniversary.

While Yanet Álvarez, in charge of Conciencia Ediciones, reported that this seal from the University of Holguín will arrive with 15 new proposals from seven collections.

The Holguín Book Fair is citing every year one of the most important cultural events on the national territory, thanks to its guests and the rich cultural program, in addition to organizing the Best Edition Award, given as the pinnacle of this literature.
