Unaired ‘SNL’ Rap Video Honors Lorne Michaels, Features Surprise Cameo

Apparently, while walking out on Saturday Night Live this week, Pete Davidson noticed that longtime sketch comedy series boss Lorne Michaels was a bit muddled.

Luckily — as chronicled in an unaired pre-taped segment (see below) — guest host Natasha Lyonne was sifting through Michaels’ trash when she found the script for a music video the EP wrote and had hoped would star Davidson ahead of the musically inclined funnyman Turning Man ended his eight-season run.

Davidson decided to make his boss’s dream a reality and launched a music video in which he and Michaels rap (…or at least a set of facsimiles) about how comedy’s latest trending innovation and/or clearly “Forgot About Lorne” and “Forgot About Lorne” memes his many contributions to the form over nearly 50 years.

Wanna talk about all the crazy people he’s made?
Every single decade has ridiculous names!
Like David Spade, Belushi, Wiig and Farley,
Aykroyd, Gilda, Sandler and Carvey,
Ferrell, Morgan, Will Forte
Norm Macdonald and Tina Fey
He must have seen a lot of things, but he never stole
He’s nice as hell, he’s Canadian, bitch

Along the way, Davidson celebrates everything Michaels has done for him and fellow performers Kate McKinnon, Aidy Bryant and Kyle Mooney, until his latest Eminem-style rap is thwarted by a surprise cameo.
