Is Prince Harry’s memoir on the shelf? No date is set for Duke’s tell-all book as it turns out the Sussexes have parted ways with the global press secretary

  • Prince Harry’s memoir could be delayed as no release date has been set yet
  • His “intimate” book was announced last year and is due out in late 2022
  • The Sussexes recently left their press secretary, with whom Meghan spoke daily
  • Penguin had a ghostwriter who helped Harry document “the ups and downs” of life
  • A Sunday Times source said there was “some uncertainty” about the release date

Prince Harry’s controversial unveiling memoir has yet to be given an official release date, leading to claims yesterday that it has been delayed.

Plans for the 37-year-old’s “intimate and heartfelt” book were announced last year, when the publisher said it was “tentatively planned for late 2022”.

Confusion over the release date comes as the Sunday Times reported yesterday that the Sussexes have parted ways with their global press secretary, Toya Holness – which would make her the last of at least 12 of their top staff to have left since 2018.

Miss Holness, who joined the couple’s Archewell organization in October 2020, has been described as “Meghan’s shadow” and was reportedly among a small group of officials who spoke to Harry and Meghan on a daily basis.

Harry had said he writes “not as the prince I was born, but as the man I have become,” revealing that he had “the ups and downs, the mistakes, the lessons learned” throughout his life wanted to include

It was revealed last year that Harry had signed a deal with publishers Penguin Random House and was reportedly working with a ghostwriter, novelist John Moehringer. Harry had said he was writing “not as the prince I was born, but as the man I became,” revealing that he wanted to include “the ups and downs, the mistakes, the lessons learned.”

Sources said the memoir has attracted a multimillion-pound advance, although Harry has said he will donate the proceeds to charity. A Random House spokesman declined to comment on the release date and did not confirm if it would be released later this year. A source told the Sunday Times there was “some uncertainty” about the release date.

There had been fears at the palace that damaging revelations from the book could overshadow the Queen’s platinum jubilee celebrations. But a release delay could mean the prince is now embracing his experience of the anniversary following speculation about the role he and Meghan could play at public events next month.

It will be the first time Meghan, 40, has been spending time with the wider royal family in more than two years, although she did visit the Queen last month ahead of the Sussexes’ trip to the Invictus Games.
