So Kate McKinnon Aidy Bryant and Kyle Mooney said goodbye

So Kate McKinnon, Aidy Bryant and Kyle Mooney said goodbye "SNL"

Was there a dry eye in the house? Probably not.

The three SNL veterans are officially leaving the show along with Pete Davidson.

Kate and Aidy have both been on the show for 10 years and Kyle for 9 years. Kate is also the first cast member to win an acting Emmy on the show, and she has two of them.

This is obviously a big deal, so this is how they bid farewell to the show:

Kyle reprized his role as Brad Dates, the long-suffering keyboardist for the Treece Henderson Trio.

ABC

SNL hadn’t done this sketch in over two years, so I have to imagine they brought it back specifically for Kyle.

Aidy did a recent weekend update segment with Bowen Yang as two “trend forecasters.”

ABC

They only started it three months ago, but Aidy and Bowen’s recurring rendition of “GO TO BED, BITCH” made it instantly iconic. Gone too soon 😢.

Kate said goodbye to one of her favorite characters, Ms. Rafferty from the Alien Encounter sketches. Her farewell was the first tearful moment of the evening.

ABC

Kate has a million memorable characters, but Ms. Rafferty, after all her suffering, probably deserves a happy ending the most.

Finally, in the last sketch of the evening (and her last sketch on the show), Kate and Aidy once again saw a pair of eccentric middle-aged women.

ABC

They’ve done it a million times, and we can only hope they do it again in future non-SNL projects.

Her “grey adult pigtails” commercial featured several other cast members and host Natasha Lyonne and ended by revealing that they were all in a polyamorous relationship with Richard (played by Kyle).

Finally they sang a few lines from Joni Mitchell’s “The Circle Game” which I imagine they chose for their last sketch because it’s a song about the passage of time.

ABC

This week’s musical guest, Michelle Zauner from Japanese Breakfast, leads on guitar.

You can watch the whole farewell sketch here (and maybe cry a little, too):
