The twice-cancelled World Economic Forum meets this week in the Swiss Alps.
After two editions canceled due to the Covid pandemic (January 2021 and January 2022), the 51st annual meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos, which kicked off on Sunday evening, will take on an unprecedented tone. Firstly, CEOs and heads of state can do without down jackets and removable crampons because the Forum invites them to Graubünden, Switzerland, in the middle of spring and not in the gray of -10°C.
The green pastures will replace the decor of the snowy slopes. Especially when Klaus Schwab, the German economist, at the age of 84 the indisputable founder of this unique event worldwide, would have liked to debate a new, more inclusive and ecological post-Covid world. But now inflation weighs heavily on all economies as a food crisis looms. And most importantly, the European continent has been caught up in the war that is beating in Ukraine, less than 1000km east of the Davos Congress Centre.
