Olivier Renard’s next contract: ‘We have a pre-agreement’

Ahead of CF Montreal’s 2-1 defeat by Real Salt Lake, CF Montreal’s sporting director Olivier Renard spoke encouragingly about the extension of his contract, which expires at the end of the season.

“I had good conversations with owner Joey Saputo and President Gabriel Gervais. It’s going well and I can even say that we have a pre-agreement. Now we have to confirm all this. I can’t say it’s done, but we’re going in the right direction,” Renard told TVA Sports.

Miljevic has a long-term plan

The sporting director of CF Montreal also commented on the situation of young Matko Miljevic after the release of the players’ salaries by Major League Soccer (MLS). Miljevic has an annual salary of $593,364, which is quite a lot given his short playing tenure.

“He was a free agent and was on the seven-team roster, so there are a lot of formations in MLS that wanted him. A bit like Mbappe, a player who is so free and you don’t have to pay a transfer and who is in a strong position during the negotiations.

“It is important to remember that he is only 21 years old. Also, he plays in the same position as Djordje Mihailovic and is three years younger than him. Three years ago, Djordje wasn’t at the level he was, so we’re preparing Miljevic to become the next Mihailovic.
