Margarita Simonyan, an editor at Russia’s state television channel RT and one of the Kremlin’s most prominent spokespeople, said on a TV show that Russia “could have done Ukraine in hours” if it wanted to. “Certainly, if we wanted to, we could finish off Ukraine, not in days but in hours,” he said.
In a video of this operation, the journalist explains that the country has carried out “a kind of special operation” and that the troops’ actions are therefore different. “It’s a special operation, not a war. That’s not how a war is fought,” he added.
He also explained that the reason there is no more intense war is the fact that “they feel sorry for everyone in Ukraine” and “many people on Ukrainian territory are on the side of Russia”. Some of these people are even “hostages” on Ukrainian territory.

It is recalled that already last month Simonyan said in a similar speech that “the idea of Putin pressing the red button is more likely than the idea of allowing Russia to lose the war”.
At the time, he also said on the Russian side: “Either we lose in Ukraine, or World War III begins,” adding that “all this will end in a nuclear attack.”
