The President of the United States waved to the North Korean leader on Sunday during a visit to Seoul, South Korea.
US President Joe Biden left a short message for North Korean ruler Kim Jongun this Sunday (May 22, 2022): “Hello. Period,” he told reporters in Seoul, South Korea, before traveling to Japan after being questioned. The embassy is an attempt to resume diplomacy with North Korea.
Biden joined Hyundai automaker President Chung Euisun to announce the South Korean automaker’s new commitment to build an electric car and battery plant outside of Savannah, Georgia.
Joe Biden makes his first visit to Asia as US President. It wants to strengthen partnerships with South Korea and Japan, make clear opposition to China and discuss the situation in North Korea, which has frequently conducted tests of nuclearcapable missiles.
“We are prepared for anything North Korea does,” Biden told reporters. “I’m not worried,” he added.
On Saturday (May 21), the US President met with South Korean President Yoon Sukyeol. They signaled a deepening of military cooperation. Biden pledged to defend South Korea’s territorial integrity and said the trip showed “a willingness to face all threats together.”
