Singer and actress Tracy Braxton, who appeared on the reality show Braxton Family Values with her sisters, has died at the age of 50, her family announced Saturday.
Braxton died after a private battle with esophageal cancer, her husband Kevin Surratt said in a statement to People.
“We have come to the point where we must let the public know that after a year of private treatment for esophageal cancer, our beloved Tracey Braxton has achieved stardom,” he said.
Tracy’s son Kevin Surratt Jr posted a touching tribute to his mother on Instagram on Saturday.
“When I heard the news that my mother was sick, the first thing she said was: “I will fight and win this,” he wrote. “She fought to the end and is calm today. I love my mom forever and it hurts so much, but I’m at ease knowing she’s not in pain anymore. I love you mom, I will miss you.”
Tracy’s sister, Grammy-winning singer Toni Braxton, also posted a black-and-white photo of the five sisters posing together on Instagram.
The Un-break My Heart singer called her sister “a bright light, a beautiful daughter, an amazing sister, a loving mother, wife, grandmother and a respected performer,” in a statement released on behalf of the entire Braxton family.
“We will miss her greatly,” the statement said. Tracy is also survived by her brother Michael Braxton Jr.

The singer has also appeared in films, including 2018’s Sinners Wanted and 2019’s All Inclusive. She also had a radio show on BLIS.FM called The Traci Braxton Show which debuted in 2013.
Tracy, along with her sisters Toni Braxton, Tamar Braxton, Towanda Braxton and Trina Braxton, starred in the WE tv reality show Braxton Family Values, which premiered in 2011. The seventh season of the show aired in 2020.
The network honored the memory of the singer on Twitter, writing that she “left too early.”
“We honor her life and memory and offer our sincere condolences to the entire Braxton family at this difficult time,” the statement said. “Her light and spirit live on.”
