After winning Sanremo, the Eurovision Song Contest, conquering the United States and the alternative audience of the Coachella festival mane skin they ended up in there too Cannes. And they did it their own way: after Coachella’s “Down with Putin”, the Roman rock band launched another provocation directly from their hotel in Nice. On his Instagram account Damian David posted a photo while smoking accompanied by the caption “I smoke Cannes”.
To follow another story in which he continues to smoke, many have interpreted it as a response to French allegations that they wanted to annul their Eurovision Song Contest victory because of using cocaine (which apparently never happened). Then came the red carpet moment, the most rocking of this edition of the Cannes Film Festival: the Maneskin’s presence is in fact justified by the film about Elvis Presley, which also includes her version of “If I can dream”. the first song from 1968 with references to Martin Luther King and his famous speech on racial equality “I have a dream”.
After the red carpet and vision of the film, there’s the big Elvis party in Cannes, complete with live social media on Warner Bros’ French TikTok account. The Maneskin’s agenda will continue to be packed with commitments after the festival: you are expected from two concerts in Italy, on June 23rd at the Municipal Stadium in Lignano Sabbiadoro and on July 9th at the Circus Maximus in Rome. The first world tour starts on October 31st, postponed because of the war in Ukraine unleashed by Russia.
