The Rolling Stones will perform on the same day as Paul McCartney’s Glastonbury concert.

The Rolling Stones have announced they will perform in London’s Hyde Park this summer as part of their 60th Anniversary Tour… the same day that Beatles legend Paul McCartney headlines Glastonbury.

The band will play two shows at the British Summer Time Festival on Saturday 25 June and Sunday 3 July, celebrating the 60th anniversary of their first show at the legendary Marquee Club in London.

The timing of the band’s performance is apt for many classic rock fans, as it takes place on the same day that music icon Paul McCartney is set to headline Glastonbury.

The Stones will present fans with a set list full of classics at their Hyde Park shows, but will also include surprises from their classic hits from half a century ago.

They will also bring incredible staging and modern stage design.

The Rolling Stones and Hyde Park have a rich history to say the least: their 1969 cult show Stones In the Park became one of the most famous concerts of all time.

The concert was a magical moment in history, although the true crowd size was never known: between 250,000 and half a million people came to watch the band return to where it truly belongs, on the live stage.

They then returned just once in 2013 to open BST Hyde Park where they played two sold-out shows in front of 130,000 fans.

Jim King, CEO of AEG Presents European Festivals, said: “Whenever Hyde Park is mentioned, it’s impossible not to think of The Rolling Stones.

“Two nights on June 25 and July 3 round out an incredible lineup at BST Hyde Park 2022, but no one does it like the Stones do when they’re on home ground in London.”

Tickets go on sale at 10:00 on Friday, March 18.

Paul confirmed last month that he will take the stage as one of Glastonbury’s main performers, taking the stage on the second night, Saturday 25 June.

According to The Sun, Paul will follow Noel Gallagher and Haim and is “determined to put on a hell of a show.”

“Paul’s set will be an absolute must-see. He is very excited about this and is determined to put on a hell of a show filled with all the hits,” the source said.

“There were some discussions about whether he should continue performing this year due to the Covid situation, but he decided that he really wanted to compete.

“Glastonbury is such an amazing event and he knows it will be an incredible moment for him.”

Paul will join Billie Eilish at the festival, who also made history but as the youngest solo headliner ever.
