According to expert information, most people infected with monkeypox have an illness that starts with Malaise, headache, body aches and fever. Skin lesions appear after a few days. As much as this outbreak has the potential to spread globally, experts are pointing out It is still too early to discover its lethality, transmission and more accurate information.

Recently, the first two possible cases of the disease were identified in South America, Argentina and Bolivia. The border between Brazil and Bolivia is already being treated with increased attention because of possible infected people. “We have received the message from the border guards about the possible diagnosis of a disease related to monkeypox, it concerns a young Bolivian who is isolated in Santa Cruz de la Sierra,” informed Secretary Rogério Leite.

Confirmed cases have reached 334 worldwide, according to figures updated yesterday, Friday (27) from the Global.health initiative set up by researchers from Harvard and Oxford Universities. So far, European countries are the center of this outbreak. However, the WHO (World Health Organization) is already preparing to curb the spread of the disease.

“We think if we take the right steps now, we can easily contain it (the outbreak) (…). Case investigations, contact tracing, home isolation (if infected) will be the best options,” said the WHO Annual Assembly representative.
