2022 NFL Free Agent Estimates: Steelers Get ‘B’ For Mitchell Trubisky Signing, Eagles Ace Hawson Reddick Deal | CBS Sports
Justin Reed landed in Kansas City
Instead of re-signing Tyranne Mathieu, the Chiefs instead opted to sign a three-year, $31.50 ex-Texans safety deal. Was it really an upgrade? Time will show.
Grade: B-
After signing with the Chiefs, Justin Reid posted a jersey edit on Twitter.
Christian Kirk contract details: Jaguars give former WR Cardinals huge contract that impacts NFL receiver market, Davante Adams | sports news
How Christian Kirk’s contract affects Davante Adams and other WRs
Kirk’s new deal is likely to boost the overall value of the broadband receiver market. This will be great news for the league’s top pass catchers, especially Davante Adams.
Adams is currently involved in a contract dispute with the Packers. He doesn’t want to play under the franchise tag in 2022, but both sides have yet to close the gap on a possible renewal. Adams wants the deal closer to the $27.25 million that Hopkins makes annually, but the Packers believe his market value is closer to Jones’s $22 million.
Kirk’s new deal will likely benefit Adams’ cause to secure a larger contract. After all, if Kirk, who has never had a 1,000-yard season in his career, can make $18–21 million a year, Adams should be well over that amount.
With this deal, Tyreke Hill will also have a chance at a pay raise. Now he’s getting paid at least as much as Kirk, and at the most, Kirk earns more than Hill. The executives are likely to agree to change that, especially as Hill enters the final year of his three-year contract in 2022.
Free Agent Odell Beckham Jr Predictions: Raiders, Chiefs, Patriots and Dolphins are the best picks | professional football network
Kansas City Chiefs
It will also require some work when it comes to space under the lid. However, the Executives are very interested in the new admission option. They make a fantastic duo in Tyreke Hill and Travis Kelsey, but the offense seems to lack a solid #3 option.
Beckham could have played the part. But his catch rate below 60% should be a wake-up call given that the role will be to ensure a consistent and reliable exit for Mahomes. That might be enough for the Chiefs to keep working with Mekole Hardman or look for a veteran option elsewhere in free agency.
2022 NFL Trial Three-Round Draft: New QB makes first-round pick; Planes, giants and lions each have five peaks | CBS Sports
George Karlaftis EDGE
Kansas City
The defense has gotten better over the season, but the Chiefs need to get better at the quarterback. Karlaftis looks the part and shone several times for Purdue last season. If he can play more consistently, he could become a steal at this point in the draft.

2022 NFL Free Agent Winners and Losers: Jaguars Go Shopping on Day One of Legal Intervention | CBS Sports
Winner: Los Angeles Chargers
The Chargers are having an offseason as impressive as anyone else, finding a way to keep wide receiver Mike Williams and trading for pass rusher Khalil Mak. We only have one day, but it’s safe to say that success has come to free will. The Chargers received best-in-class defenseman JC Jackson, who reportedly agreed to a five-year, $82.5 million contract with $40 million guaranteed.
Los Angeles had the third-worst defense in the NFL last season, and the Chargers tried to fix that as well, reportedly dropping Austin Johnson after a career year (two-year deal, up to $14 million) and stealing defenseman Sebastian Joseph. – A day from rival Rams (three-year deal, $24 million, $15 million guaranteed). This fan base is excited.
Broncos agree to a three-year, $30 million contract with former 49ers DT DJ Jones | NFL.com
The Broncos and Jones, formerly of the San Francisco 49ers, have agreed to a three-year, $30 million contract with $20 million guaranteed, NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport said Monday night.
Jones, ranked 28th on Gregg Rosenthal’s 2022 list of the NFL’s 101 best free agents, is helping fill a desperate need for the Broncos in the domestic DL. He is completing his fifth season with the 49ers, in which he started in all 17 games and recorded a career-high 56 tackles.
Steelers reach agreement with QB Mitchell Trubisky on a two-year, $14.25 million deal | NFL.com
The Steelers have signed quarterback Mitchell Trubisky to a two-year, $14.25 million contract, NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo and Tom Pelissero announced Tuesday. The deal is worth up to $27 million with benefits, Pelissero said.
Former No. 2 overall is expected to start in place of Mason Rudolph and former first round pick Dwayne Haskins.
Trubisky spent his first four seasons in Chicago, winning the Pro Bowl in his second season, but struggled and fell out of favor with Bears fans. He spent 2021 at Buffalo rebuilding his image but saw little to no field as Josh Allen’s understudy (eight pass attempts).

Report: Executives restructure Frank Clark deal to keep him in Kansas City
The Chiefs acquired 28-year-old Clark for the first time by exchange during the 2019 off-season. In his three seasons as head coach (43 games), Clark had 88 tackles (63 solo), including 24 tackles for loss, 46 quarterback hits and 18.5 sacks. He also made five fumbles. Clarke’s outstanding success as Chief came in the 2019 postseason when he registered 5.0 sacks en route to a Super Bowl title.
Clark’s caps for 2022 and 2023 have been set at $26.3 million and $27.8 million, respectively, and the new deal significantly reduces those losses. The move means Clark has taken some pay cuts to stay in Kansas City. The restructured deal should save the Chiefs more than $11 million over their 2022 cap.
As we mentioned on these pages earlier on Monday, general manager Brett Wyche said that the team plans to restore the line of defense and defense in generalso there was no way to get Clark back to his original baseball cap number.
Instead, he stays in Kansas City, where will work with new defensive line coach Joe Cullen. Perhaps his own fresh start with Cullen – so to speak – along with incentives contributes to the wise preservation of the defensive end.
A tweet that will make you think
People ask about Reid. He has all the intangible assets of Tyranne Mathieu. His best games are ahead. Good in the penalty area (good tackler) and overprotective… Weakness, improve your cover when needed… he has everything to reach Mathieu’s level. @JustinqReid this fair
