Faced with years of plastic surgery speculation as a teenager and young adult, Bella Hadid sets the record.

Speaking to Vogue for the magazine’s April cover, Bella clarified her history of cosmetic procedures and explained why she only regrets one.

“I wish I could keep my ancestors’ nose,” said the supermodel, now 25, referring to a rhinoplasty she had at 14. “I think I’d grow up to him.”

As for long-standing rumors that she also used dermal fillers and had surgery to reshape various parts of her face – the internet was at times convinced that she had an eye lift and jaw reduction – Bella noted that those claims were untrue.

Her mom, Yolanda Hadid, said the same thing when defending Bella against social media naysayers in 2019.

“People think I completely screwed up my face because of one picture of me looking puffy as a teenager,” Bella said. “I’m pretty sure you don’t look the same now as you did when you were 13, right? I have never used filler. Let’s just get this over with. I don’t have a problem with it, but it’s not for me.”

“Whoever thought I got my eyes up or whatever it’s called, it’s face tape! The oldest trick in the book,” she continued, adding that public accusations of body modification contributed to her experience with impostor syndrome, a psychological condition characterized by feelings of self-doubt and unworthiness.

“I had impostor syndrome where people made me feel like I didn’t deserve anything,” Bella shared. “People always have something to say, but I have to say that I have always been misunderstood in my industry and people around me.”

Bella opened up about how an early comparison to her older sister Gigi Hadid ended up affecting the way she saw herself. “I was an ugly sister. I was a brunette. I wasn’t as cool as Gigi and I wasn’t as outgoing,” she said. “That’s really what people have said about me. And, unfortunately, when you are told so many times, you just believe it.

“I always ask myself, as a girl with incredible insecurities, anxiety, depression, body image problems, food problems, who hates being touched, who has a lot of social anxiety — what was I doing getting into this business?”

“But over the years I have become a good actress. I had a very smiling face or a very strong face. I always felt that I had something to prove, ”Bella recalled.

“People can say whatever they want about how I look, how I talk, how I act. But in seven years, I have never missed work, never canceled work, never been late for work,” she said. “No one can ever say that I don’t work my hardest.”
