Bob Saget’s family share statement after judge blocks release of tapes

Bob Saget’s family said they were “grateful” to the judge’s decision to permanently ban the release of tapes detailing the late comedian’s death.

“The entire Saget family is grateful that the judge granted their request for an injunction to preserve Bob’s dignity as well as their privacy rights, especially after this unexpected and tragic loss,” the Saget family lawyer said in a statement. CNN.

“We are pleased that this issue has been resolved and the recovery process can continue,” the statement said. “All the prayers and good wishes constantly addressed to the family are invaluable.”

District Judge Vincent Chiu of Orlando, Fla., said on Monday that he will issue a permanent injunction against records examining the cause of Saget’s death. The decision comes weeks after Chiu issued a temporary injunction barring the Saget family from experiencing “great mental pain, anguish and emotional distress” if the tapes were released to the public.

Saget’s widow, Kelly Rizzo, and his three daughters filed a lawsuit in February demanding that photos, videos, and anything related to the investigation into Saget’s death remain confidential because the publication does not serve a “legitimate public interest.”

Saget, 65, was found dead in his Orlando hotel room on January 9, hours after performing in Jacksonville, Florida on a nationwide tour.

A forensic examination previously determined that the Full House star died from a head injury that “most likely resulted from a fall without witnesses.”

The autopsy report revealed that the comedian had a fracture at the base of his skull and around his eye sockets, as well as abrasions to his scalp, contusions to the brain, and hemorrhage between the brain and tissues around the brain.

Saget’s family said in a statement at the time that authorities assumed that Saget “accidentally hit the back of his head on something, didn’t think anything about it and went to sleep”.

They added that drugs or alcohol did not contribute to his death.
