The Daytona Beach police later released images of the car dangling from a thin hitch attached to the small trailer it was pulling. The motorcycle looks straight down into the water, the gravity of the steep slope holding the small trailer in place.

The driver was seen approaching the downed road signs while maintaining speed. He told police that he did not notice the traffic signs used to notify drivers to wait for a boat to pass because he was wiping rain off his helmet.
