Elon Musk announced Thursday night that Tesla’s AI Day will be postponed to September 30.

The Tesla CEO tweeted the announcement.

“Tesla AI Day has been pushed back to September 30 as we may have a working Optimus prototype by then,” Musk said.
The date was originally set for August 19th.

At last year’s AI Day, Musk introduced the humanoid robot project and said it could be launched the following year.

The robot would do the work that humans don’t like to do.
Musk said at the time the robot would “eliminate dangerous, repetitive, boring tasks.”

“Optimus could eventually solve the global labor shortage and be able to move items through a factory in the short term,” Musk said in January, according to Reuters.
