Mr. Drainville is thus leaving his radio position after more than five years at the microphone of a program on Cogeco station 98.5 FM, after having worked briefly on a program on FM 93 in Quebec City.

The former PQ MP was elected from 2007 to 2016 and appointed Minister under the Marois government from 20212 to 2014, where he was notably responsible for the controversial dossier of the Charter of Values.

No new mandate for François Paradis

The arrival of the former PQ heavyweight in the ranks of the CAQ coincides with the announcement on Friday morning of current Lévis MP and President of the National Assembly, François Paradis, who will not seek another mandate.

“It was an honor to be the 46th President of the National Assembly,” Mr. Paradis said in a press release.

Bearing the colors of the CAQ since the by-elections on October 20, 2014, the 65-year-old will end his current mandate.

The former TVA Québec presenter pursued a career in journalism and public relations before entering politics.

He was a critic of the Second Opposition Group on Health and Welfare and a critic of the elderly.

François Paradis was re-elected to office in the general elections held on 1 October 2018.
