Thousands of people will demand an end to gender based violence in Argentina

Buenos Aires, June 3 (Prensa Latina) Thousands of people will today take part in marches called by the Ni Una Menos movement in this capital and other cities across the country to commemorate seven years after its creation and an end to the to encourage gender-based violence.

In 2015, more than 200,000 citizens gathered near the National Congress in this capital to demand the implementation of comprehensive policies to combat femicide and other crimes against various social groups.

This demonstration had repercussions throughout Argentina and other countries, after which the movement and its slogan reached global proportions.

The motto of the march on this day is Alive, free and without debt, we love each other! and in Buenos Aires it will depart from the Plaza de Mayo for the Congress.

Similar initiatives will take place in the rest of the country.

Throughout the day, the group will publish testimonies from their members and photos of the murdered people by relatives of victims of femicide.

For its part, the organization Mujeres Indígenas por el Buen Vivir will denounce the systematic practice of sexual abuse of girls and adults of indigenous peoples in a cruel and deviant way.

In a statement, Ni Una Menos reported that its members will take to the streets to condemn sexist and patriarchal violence and to demand an end to cross-dressing, rape, childhood aggression, racism and abandonment.

We want to be free and not brave. Not another prey to defend. We march for everything we lack and because we want to change everything, the text says.

According to the Supreme Court Women’s Office, there were 251 femicides in 2021, an average of one every 35 hours, while the Domestic Violence Office reported it processed 8,741 complaints that year.
