As Kat Stratford, the grumpy heroine of 10 Things I Hate About You, might say: What is that, asshole day?

As Johnny Depp celebrates a shocking victory and Harvey Weinstein refuses to appeal his sexual assault convictions, disgraced comedian Louis CK seems to have decided it’s his turn for a comeback: his new indie film Fourth Of July is set to hit theaters next month for a limited time. The release comes less than a year after CK received a Grammy for Best Comedy Album for Sincerely, Louis CK, in which he joked about his well-documented history of misconduct allegations. Nobody works harder in Hollywood than canceling the culture!

CK fell out of favor with the start of the #MeToo mass movement in 2017 when five women accused him of sexual misconduct and stripped and masturbated in front of them. CK acknowledged and apologized for his behavior, and apart from a few stomach-turning Comedy Cellar sets, he’s largely stayed away from the public eye.

Clearly, however, CK is ready to change that. He announced his new film through his website, along with a request for fans to request the film at their local theaters. Fourth Of July premieres June 30 at New York’s Beacon Theater, followed by screenings in Chicago and Boston on July 1 and 2, but according to THR, it’s unclear whether major chains like AMC will be showing the film.

“We are still compiling and adding to the list of theaters that I will be posting on the webpage for the film that is on my website,” CK wrote. “Also, if you would like Fourth Of July to be played at a theater near you, please contact the theater directly and ask about it.”

“Fourth Of July” stars comedian John List, who co-wrote the film with CK, as a New York jazz pianist and recovering alcoholic who reunites with his savvy family for an annual Independence Day vacation. Comedians Sarah Tollemache, Lynne Koplitz, Nick Di Paolo, Robert Kelly and Tony V round out the cast.

“I’ve had so much fun directing and making a movie again,” CK wrote on his website. “I felt able to take care of the cast and focus on the look of the film. Whether or not I got it all right depends on pretty much everyone but me.”
