George Ezra removes lyrics about dying when he performs at the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee concert

George Ezra censored his performance of his hit song Green Green Grass when he took the stage for the star-studded Party At The Palace concert during the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee concert on Saturday night.

The 28-year-old singer took the stage outside Buckingham Palace in London to celebrate Her Majesty’s 70th anniversary on the throne.

But he made sure he wasn’t singing about people dying when he sang Green Green Grass, skipping the line: “Green green grass, blue blue sky / You better throw a party the day I die .”

Meanwhile, another person posted, “Who else thinks George Ezra should have changed the lyrics to ‘throw a party it’s the queen’s jubilee’ instead of censoring the day I die out completely!!”

“George Ezra’s self-censorship of ‘You better throw a party the day I die’ was hilarious,” wrote another person at home.

While another person wrote, “Of all the great songs George Ezra could have sung, he literally sings one about throwing a party the day you die… and then censoring it.”

It comes after Queen Elizabeth made a surprise appearance with Paddington Bear in a sketch to mark her platinum anniversary.

The 96-year-old monarch wowed audiences by having tea with the famous fictional bear at Windsor Castle to kick off the Platinum Party at the Palace.

The Queen was unable to attend the event, but the sketch came as a surprise to some of her closest relatives.

The monarch was determined to play a part in showing the British public how much the celebrations meant to her in a skit reminiscent of her performance with James Bond at the London 2012 Olympics opening ceremony.

A Buckingham Palace spokesman said: “While not attending the concert in person, the Queen was keen that people understood how much it meant to her and that everyone in attendance had a great time.

“Her Majesty is known for her sense of humor so it should come as no surprise that she has chosen to take part in today’s skit.

“There was an interest in the filming and animation process and the opportunity to invite a famous bear over for tea was just too good to pass up.”

The sketch saw Her Majesty Paddington invite out for cream tea, which went awry when the clumsy bear drank the monarch’s cup of tea and sprinkled a servant with cream from a chocolate eclair.

Paddington also showed the monarch keeping jam sandwiches under his hat and the queen revealed she kept some in her handbag.

Paddington then congratulated the Queen on her 70-year reign, saying: “Happy Jubilee Ma’am. And thanks for everything.”

The monarch replied, “That is very nice.”

The sequence ended with the Queen and Paddington using a spoon to tap out the beat to Queen’s We Will Rock You on a porcelain teacup while the rockers began the musical performances.
